What is/was EP?

I saw a user here named I stillmissEP and I've seen posts about it. What was it? What made it so good that people ask about it and miss it?

Something like SW but larger with a very wide variety of people. I enjoyed it for several years, made some good friends there, a few of which I still have. Some EP people came here when it closed but not all.
