New war films are starting to be made with a horror feel to them. I think this is the right direction.

I’m tired of chest thumping heros and glorious explosions in this genre. Films like Dunkirk and 1917 show us some of the pure terror the people face in war.

Pretty sure Platoon (86), Full Metal Jacket and Hamburger Hill (both 87), and Saving Private Ryan (98), among a bunch of others, already brought the horrors of war to the public consciousness.
@DrawntoaDistance Platoon snd FMJ and hamburger all showed the atrocities of war but did not subject audiences to the fear of being killed.
