Have you been victim of the golden child syndrome?

alan20 · M
Very much. And then became the blackest sheep ever because I fell in love.

My younger brother is 'the golden child who can do no wrong' whereas I'm the poor useless twat everything always got blamed on.

I've always known I was never the favourite though, not even when I was the only child.
@Quizzical (((hugs)))

I definitely was not the golden child I think I was more like the forgotten child. It just made me stronger as a person thought.

@rjc36 I feel like the kid in the corner child that nobody thinks to check on

I felt that way a lot.unfortunately that is how life goes at times. We just need to focus on the good and shrug off the bad. @SW-User

I’ve been a victim of the scapegoat child.
Not at all. As the first, I was the experimental model, and my parents attempted to raise me as their parents had done, complete with the old “spare the rod, spoil the child” and “children should be seen, not heard” attitudes. When it mostly didn’t work, my siblings weren’t subjected to it. My youngest sibling was the “golden child”, gifted intellectually and physically beautiful. Unfortunately she was also mentally ill. 😔

@bijouxbroussard Sorry to hear that.

I think so. I'm an example of wasted potential.

Oh gosh yes. And it has started some sibling rivalry that lives to this day. This is why I am a giving person...long story. But you get my point. 🙂
