They are to me. I think it's nice to pause and honor an individual at least once a year [and what better opportunity than one's birth anniversary].
So many of us live with depression and sadness feel alone and unloved - when it simply isn't true.
It's sad that often the only event that truly brings people together for a loved one is attending their funeral.
With our busy lives, the opportunity to bring together friends under more joyous circumstances is much needed for everyone.
I say this fresh from attending another probable suicide funeral of a dear old friend whom I don't know a single person who didn't adore him. It was so great to connect with people I hadn't seen in years, but he should have been there too. It shouldn't have been because we lost him.
