My neighbor is looking for a used car for two K (or less) can he find something decent at that amount?

He doesn't want an eyesore. He does have a mechanic who woukd check it out.

You're more likely to find one that looks great with major mechanical issues, unfortunately.
@SW-User That was the case with my old Ford Explorer, beautiful to look at but the tranny went kaput.
I have seen an unusual amount of cars with no fenders being driven as of late.... He may need to come to terms with ugly.
@TwiddlerofThumbs That seems to be the general consensus, thanks for the input.

This is 2019 not 1989. It’s hard to find anything for that.
@cherokeepatti Thanks Patti. Nice seeing you. (smiles)

@Grateful4you I’ve worked at a used car lot and it’s amazing how many people want a car for $100-600...maybe that’s all they have. There’s a lot of overhead that some don’t understand, have to have insurance, bonds, etc. in addition to property cost, maintenance, tools & equipment, taxes, employees wages, utilities etc. If you can find a car for $2000 from a trusted individual go for it, get a mechanic to check it out first. Still no guarantees that there won’t be problems.

I got my car for 2k but it is an eyesore. The more money you put in the better car you get
@CodeLyoko Thanks, hope you get some good miles on it bud.

It's not impossible but the chances of finding something decent are going to be slim unless he can drive a manual.
@SW-User He says he can, personally since it's mostly in town driving seems a bit of a hassle.
