Is it bad to give homelessness people money if they spend it on drugs?

Even though they should quit drugs, its probably hard to quit duribg winter and if you're homeless but maybe theyd prefer drugs than a sandwich.

I just brought a nice chicken sandwich from Marks and Spencers for a homelessness person and it didn't cheer them up at all. Maybe I shoukd have just given them 10 pounds so they could spend it on heroin.

I've bought them a cup of tea and a sandwich. Gone past later to find them in a drunken stupor and pigeons eating the sandwich. There's a couple of retired homeless British soldiers sleeping rough near my work in London. I do give them a bottle of wine at Xmas and clothes and books sometimes
