Do you think Batman is a hero?

I don’t like him, truthfully

It's one of the only American superhero stories that I find compelling to read. Just because he has no real super powers.

Since the '80s he's been portrayed as this "detective noire" character, that mixes Sherlock Holmes type stories with the American-Superhero genre. Since the late 80s a lot of his storylines are really dark. And the guy actually runs the risk of getting hurt, dieing, etc... he fucks up but always tries to do "the right thing". He's just a psychologically disturbed guy in a bad-suit haunted by the past, compulsively trying to better the future. Destroying his own personal life as he goes along. Hyper rational struggling with his emotions as they flare up. Loosing friends because of his rational approach and deductive reasoning. Often misunderstood, verry alone... The problem is that there are so much storylines of the character, that some of them are just not that good. But I think if you make a top 100 american comics of all time, that at least 2 (maybe 3) batman albums reach the top 10?

- The Dark knight Returns
- The long Halloween (personal fav)
- The killing joke
- Batman: Year One
- Batman: Arkham Assylum
- Batman: The Dark Mirror
- The Court of Owls
