should I keep a friendship if I use the person for another reason hoping to get something else out of it?

should I keep a friendship if I use the person for another reason hoping to get something else out of it? I am friends with this one guy just so i can meet more people though him hoping to meet his friends and possibly become better friends with them, I don't have close friend to set time aside to spend with me. should i stay friends just to see if i can friend his friends?
