Should there be a law against teaching children how to use a gun?

Back before the Gun Control Act of 1934 and 1938, anyone with cash could order a fully automatic surplus machine gun COD through the mail. Actual military surplus Thompsons with a rate of fire double that of an M-16, 1200-1300 rounds a minute, with no age limit, no background checks, no waiting period, nothing. Yet there were no school or theater shootings in the 1920s or 1930s. After GCA 34,38,68 and 1994s "assault weapon ban" counting state laws we have enacted over 20,000 gun laws as a nation to solve the problem. It is more prevalent now that when there were almost no laws concerning guns. Is another set of laws restricting guns going to make a difference. When you look at most of the people involved in shootings, they acquired the firearm illegally, they carried it illegally, they discharged it inside restricted areas illegally. They shot other people, illegal. Do you think that one more felony charge that can be added to the list will stop the guy from trying to kill people? Guns are harder to get now than ever before yet the problem persists. It isn't a gun problem, it is a decay in the value of life and the morals of our society that has caused the problem.

Exactly, and it blows my mind that these people can't see this. They can't see how American society has decayed with the decrease of corporal punishment, traditional families, and traditional values. It couldn't be more obvious.

@Roadsterrider The reasons for the gun control acts of 1934 and 1938 to get rid of those Thompsons and BARs out of the hands of non military and law enforcement was because so many innocent civilians were getting killed during mob war crossfires.

@NativeOregonian But they weren't killing civilians, law enforcement didn't have the firepower to compete with them, the gangsters weren't going to the local mall and opening up. If you search for mass shootings during the early 1900s, you will find items like the St Valentines Day Massacre but you won't find Capone or Baby Face Nelson going to the local theater and shooting 50 people. And as far as getting automatic weapons out of the hands of criminals, that hasn't worked either. The gangbangers of today have better full auto weapons than the police of today. If a person is set on killing someone they don't care if there is one more law in place or not. Maybe it will work like making heroin illegal, glad you can't find it on every corner in America.
