How different would it be from now?

Women bosses can be very critical and nit-picking, I had a great number of them at the university & believe the men bosses were much easier to work for. I can’t even imagine if women ruled the entire world...

@cherokeepatti In the not-quite twenty-five years I spent in one certain job, I had two women and two men (at different times) and a Department Manager who was a woman. I would rather work for the women rather than the men. Both men treated me as less than a woman. The first one was a former schoolteacher who was the Department Manager's friend. He treated me like a schoolgirl - that is, until I learned to get some backbone with him and talk back. Once he muttered something about "insubordination" which I replied, "And you just love it."

The second one was worse. He was more than twenty years my junior and I heard he got transferred into the job because they didn't want to fire him. One time, I had an attack of "Bell's palsy", which causes your lip and corner of your eye to hang down. I struggled through work with it, and when I recovered and was able to work/speak clearly, he said something to the effect that "at least you're not talking like Elvis Presley!" Mean and cruel.

The two women I worked under were never like that. Neither was the Department Manager.

@MaryJanine The university trains the women to be aggressive, not merely assertive. They act like they were dragging a pair of 20-pound testicles. I’ve been retired for 11 years and I can still recognize them by their attitudes...they are rude to store cashiers and other employees when shopping. My friend is a still a greeter and has told me about them.

@cherokeepatti THanks for the info ;)

@Nimbus Well she’s still working at the university. I don’t know how she has lasted this long. They won’t give her the benefits retirees are supposed to get in order for her to retire, she’s been there over 28 years.

@cherokeepatti Wow, I can'y understand those that want to work so long but that's up to them I guess.

@Nimbus She needs her health insurance otherwise she could quit. I’ve been getting my insurance paid for 11 years and I worked there for 25 years. I will get supplemental health insurance paid when I turn 65 and get my Medicare. It’s a big deal to have health insurance here.

@cherokeepatti You sound like my situation. I will turn 65 in January and although I am getting Social Security Disability, they are still automatically taking out my Medicare A&B before the remainder is direct deposited. I have been getting all sorts of literature for applying for Medicare Supplement (C) but I don't know what to choose and what to discard. There are so many! I am leaning toward AARP, because I have life insurance with them already and they sent me an attached-in-the-magazine card to complete.

@MaryJanine I’ll get the university supplement plan.
