Do you think a murderer should be executed if his victim's widow wants that?

I say an absolute YES to that.

What's the point of laws then? They are there to take out the emotional factor.

@Callmyname I think you're misunderstanding my intent. Victims will always respond from an emotional point of view. Man made laws were created to avoid that.

Maybe I should put it another way. You're driving your car at night and unintentionally run over a man, killing him. The man's wife asks that you be executed. Should you be killed because she's requested it?

@Callmyname I'm not deliberately twisting things. You've made a statement about murder that's very black and white. There are varying degrees of murder. It's why we have laws, juries, and judges. The laws are there to both punish and protect people.

@Callmyname What is the point of what honey? Having laws because you don't feel they do what they're intended to do?

@Callmyname I'm not. It's not clear to me what you're asking.

@Callmyname I actually like your question. If I didn't like it, I wouldn't have responded. You asked something that is making people think. I like that. We don't get many of those here.

However, your responses to me just weren't clear. Now I'm seeing if someone doesn't immediately agree with you, or is attempting to have a discussion, you take offense. Why are you so angry? Why not have a discussion about it? Maybe you can change my way of thinking.

@Callmyname I think you've hit the nail on the head! I can't look at these things on a personal level. I generally look at most questions from an impersonal standpoint. It's how I was taught. Critical thinking and impartiality. Especially when it comes to the law or ethics.
