Dear British People,

enough is enough.
Really. Stop making an ass of yourselves. You are nice and kind and lovely people, do you really want to become the laughing stock of the civilized world?
"The people have spoken", haha. Just accept the fact that Brexit was/is/will always be a textbook example of a crackpot idea that leads nowhere but down.
Now get rid of the Demonic Possession and come back home please. We Europeans aren't perfect either, and we will happily accept your sincere apologies. Just send us a bottle of Isle of Skye whisky and an annual subscription to the Royal Shakespeare Company, and we will be fine. See you in Paris/Berlin/Rome next summer, let's get drunk [and I mean drunk!], and let's have a good laugh together, about this present madness. 馃尫

Yours cordially,
helenS.

[Note added: this post is no longer relevant. The majority of British people have now decided, at their peril, to harm their own interests, and "get Brexit done". So be it. Go find more trustworthy friends. Mr. Trump is waiting for you. 馃槙]

Sadly we can't revert to pre Jun 2016.

The damage is irreparable both internally and externally.

Just promise us you'll be there when a few decades down the line we realise this was a massive mistake and we need to disentangle ourselves from whatever crackpot deal we've sold our souls for with the usa.

@SW-User Nothing's settled so far. The doors are wide open.
Go through it, and come home. 馃尫

@helenS we can't do that. If we do those that voted to leave will feel so utterly betrayed. Whilst I'd rather be staying myself I see that to not leave will cause such unrest, loss of trust with politicians and the elite etc. It could and probably will lead to considerable civil unrest.
Farage and the brexit group will not go away. Every election it'll be the number one issue.
From my position we need to leave. UK voters then need to see that the UK slowly drops out of the G7 etc. Economic contraction etc. We get continually treated poorly in trade deals esp with the usa whose corporations come to us to exploit our reduced rights and massively low corporate tax.

Then maybe someone when I'm about to leave this world in a decade or so will say. Maybe rejoining the EU might be a good idea...

@SW-User How accomodating do you think the EU will be in 7 years times when we admit we did the wrong thing and ask to rejoin?
We're doooomed!!!!
SW-User
@UnderStars Well we'll have to join the euro shengen etc but I think we'll probably need to by then.

I hope I'm wrong but every prediction is that brexit is bad economically over any period for us.
UnderStars51-55, F
@SW-User it already has been. And we will still be paying into the EU for many years to come.

As I think I've said to you elsewhere: I doubt that in 5-10 years the EU will exist in its present form. The growing nationalism in France, for example, will prove a threat to the EC; the German people will refuse to bankroll basket case economies and this will lead to the EU unravelling. In its place will come something like the pre-Maastricht EEC - which I would fully expect Britain to be a part of.

@ArtieKat On the contrary, my friend: in ten years we will live in the Free Republic of Europe!

Or so I hope.

@helenS Nothing wrong with fantasies, Helen! Yours is a bit kinkier than most lol ;-)
helenS36-40, F
@ArtieKat You know I have some very special fantasies... 馃榿
(But these do not belong here...)

@helenS Free from what?
helenS36-40, F
@MartinII "Free" as in "freedom".
