How accurate are free online IQ tests?

I took one online for free and said I had an IQ of 139, which is considered very superior
I took a different IQ test that I had to pay for, and it said I had an IQ of 110, which is in the high average range, but I was also really tired when I took it

I consider myself pretty smart but I wouldn't consider myself gifted

Online IQ tests are trash. If you want an IQ, I'd say just pay for one like you did, and try to arrive in a better condition. Personally though, I don't think it's a great idea anyway. Assigning a number to your innate intelligence is unproductive outside of some very specific medical circumstances, and it's bad for your self image. Value your efforts, value your skills, and value your personal characteristics.

[@4199,BlueVeins] there's also different types of intelligence that just can't be determined by an IQ test

If I should believe the average American on here they all have an IQ score from around the 140 points, this when the country's average hardly get 98 points, now you can say only the high IQ Americans are able to find SW but I'm afraid it's more about the IQ tests they use than something else. 😂

I only consider IQ tests administrated by licensed psychologists to be valid
The only thing my official IQ did for me was tell me I’m really smart but have nonverbal learning disability

[@871813,Mel3210] school is a scam

U will owe thousands
[@386170,ScarletWitch] They probably are affiliated with some learning course home study program - ONLINE naturally for 400.00 - then after you take that course - you retake the IQ test and surprise it's higher !! - THEN they offer you a chance to get a super IQ- for only 250 dollars more. Then Guess what ? - No change :(

[@386170,ScarletWitch] well I have to go to school to become a licensed therapist.

What is your SAT? That is a good proxy for iq. My iq was found to be at least 146 in an in-person official iq test, but a ceiling was never found. That places me 3 standard deviations above the mean of 100 at a minimum. The ones you have to pay for are generally more reliable. Try going to a university psychology program and see what they say.

[@1007974,Aardvark97] I took the pre-SAT 3 years ago so I don't remember, but I remember my ACT score which was 24 (the highest score possible is 36)

depends on the test. A real test will only have reasoning questions based in mathematics. A good test will also tell you that your IQ has a range of 5 points either way due to inaccuracy

120 is gifted. 140 is genius. You're pretty smart.
Aardvark97 · 46-50, M
[@955094,quitwhendone] No. 132 is gifted. 160 is genius. 150 is near genius.

IQ Scores & Ratings
Over 140 - Genius or near genius
120 - 140 - Very superior intelligence
110 - 119 - Superior intelligence
90 - 109 - Normal or average intelligence
80 - 89 - Dullness
70 - 79 - Borderline deficiency
Under 70 - Definite feeble-mindedness

Low IQ & Mental Retardation
5% of people have an IQ under 70 and this is generally considered as the benchmark for "mental retardation", a condition of limited mental ability in that it produces difficulty in adapting to the demands of life.

Severity of mental retardation can be broken into 4 levels:

50-70 - Mild mental retardation (85%)
35-50 - Moderate mental retardation (10%)
20-35 - Severe mental retardation (4%)
IQ < 20 - Profound mental retardation (1%)

High IQ & Genius IQ
Genius IQ is generally considered to begin around 140 to 145, representing ~.25% of the population (1 in 400). Here's a rough guide:

115-124 - Above average (e.g., university students)
125-134 - Gifted (e.g., post-graduate students)
135-144 - Highly gifted (e.g., intellectuals)
145-154 - Genius (e.g., professors)
155-164 - Genius (e.g., Nobel Prize winners)
165-179 - High genius
180-200 - Highest genius
>200 - "Unmeasurable genius"
