Do you ever see where squirrels have chewed on tree bark?

My neighbor lets wild trees grow up next to the fence between our yards. I used to put out sunflower seeds for the birds but the squirrels kept eating most of them so I stopped. Now the squirrels are chewing on the trunks of the trees the neighbor lets grow up wild. Go squirrels.

We had a hard winter last year and they almost killed the bushes in the front of my house eating the bark that was exposed above the snow pile.

Over here the native red squirrel population is in decline as grey squirrels which apparently came in from Spain, allegedly kill them. Hope that's not being racist!

Never saw that, but they are destructive little critters, but I like them.

Have you ever seen a tree after woodpeckers have been at it, and then stuffed acorns in?

They use the bark in their neats. They will sometimes eat the layer under the bark in some sugar trees.

This time of year they are most likely collecting the bark.
