You certainly don't hear it as often as you once did. I've actually told people, "a thank you would be nice", and either got a blank look or some mumbled reply
@Nimbus despite having a backpack on, I helped a Muslim lady down the stairs at busy Oxford Circus with her pram and not a smile or thanks. It does make me angry
