Would you consider it hypocritical if someone was big into politics and global events but not interest in local people or their community

I know someone who neglected her own family because she was overly involved in “volunteering”. She wanted to be considered a good person. She had a Bart Simpson poster on her wall that said “Shhhh...for all they know we are a normal family.”
