All states are different , in NYC killing a police dog , same as a cop - got to look up specific details .

They don’t use them as weapons , usually for drug sniffing, & finding suspects that get away , that’s what they’re trained to do. @ChipmunkErnie

@OverdosedVintage Drug-sniffing I have no problem with, but I've read too many news items about them being sent in to attack and subdue armed suspect -- or unarmed suspects, for that matter.

It’s a good tactic because if there’s a suspect with a gun & theres a 100 lb dog running at you full speed - the suspect is going to freeze up & not no what to do & their first instinct is to run ..dog takes them to the ground & then they’re apprehended .@ChipmunkErnie
