Do you like raking leaves in the fall?

I do but something that makes me uneasy is that snakes camouflage really well in the leaves. Makes me kind of. Nervous if the leaves are piled up in places. I raked up two snakes one time, and it was the last week in November.

@Degbeme I don’t have any blackjack oak trees in my yard but when I was a teen we had close to 2 acres of them on our land. Half the leaves fall off in the fall and half in early spring when they start budding out, so you have to clean them up 2 times. We made a large compost bin but it seemed like the work never ended. Couldn’t leave them on the ground because there were a lot of copperheads in that area.

@cherokeepatti No worries about snakes here. We have white and red oaks here and yes I do know about the fall and spring clean ups. 🤨 Oak leave aren`t good for plants until they`ve fully broken down.
