Do you like raking leaves in the fall?

I do but something that makes me uneasy is that snakes camouflage really well in the leaves. Makes me kind of. Nervous if the leaves are piled up in places. I raked up two snakes one time, and it was the last week in November.

I don't rake leaves, I leave them to rot and fertilize the soil. Snakes is a good reason not to as well.
My dog upon occasion tries to bring snakes in the house. One time she was at the back door carrying a snake. I screamed and in a panic she dropped her snake. I opened the back door to let her in and before entering she looked for her snake which had taken off. She was mad at me for that.

@curiosi I’ve found a baby rattlesnake around by the side of the house. I don’t want to encourage them to get comfortable around here.

@cherokeepatti Rattlesnakes are particularly bad!

@curiosi don't they damage grass?

@iamnikki The grass dies off in the winter, it comes back in the spring. I have noticed it's greener when I let the leaves decay.

@curiosi I didn't know that latter part
