why are we told to drink alot of water?

why is it considered healthy to drink lots of water? people should be drinking when they are thirsty, if you do not want more water you should not be drinking it. I found out that camels actually have fat in their backs, fat locks in moisture better than anything else natural. we need some water but many people think that you have to drink a specific amount like 2 liters. i do not think you should be forcing yourself to be drinking more than you want if you dont want two liters its not going to make you more healthy. I had mu suspicions on drinking more water not being a good thing but after doing some research it shows that the amount we are told is too much.

One shouldn't obsessively drink water.

But, if you consistently wait until you are thirsty, then it's likely that you are depriving your body of something.

So, do please tell us about all the information you gathered that 2 liters is too much.

For someone who's quite small, perhaps 1.5 liters would be enough. But for someone larger, then 2 liters may not be enough.

But, could you please point us to this most valuable information that you have uncovered in your research?
@JoeyFoxx well its hard to ind information online Much of the information in reaerching this is funded by companies that have financial gain from getting people to drink more water. I should scan in some books from my library that show and describe what too much water can do to animal cells, water is a hypotonic solution which mean that it allows more water to enter the cell, and if the cell gets too much water it will lead to apoptosis, cell death.

I think it's an average, similar to the BMI chart. It isn't exact and doesn't apply to every person quite the same. It's a guide.
I'm constantly dehydrated because I don't feel thirsty when I should. I'll stand up and land straight on the floor. That 2 liter mark might be too much or too little but it helps me keep track of if I drank enough to be hydrated. As an example of it being used as a guide instead of a required amount.
To cleanse your organs. What you perceive as “needs” can be wrong. When I am low on iron, I crave ice. Does ice contain iron? Certainly not. You are not a camel, that is a horrible comparison. They evolved to survive in deserts where water is scarce. They must conserve water to live, you do not.

We are not told to drink "alot" of anything because there is no such word as "alot". We are told to drink a lot of water because it is good for us.
@HeadGirl of course there is such a word you just used it.

@Girlyfriendcollecting It's not in the dictionary, so it's not a valid word.

We all end up bone dry in the end anyway 🤷‍♂️

To an extent you're correct... Drink when you're thirsty.. The colour of your pee is a good indication of your hydration levels ... And you do need water to remain healthy and flush out wastes
