Why is Trump so dead set against the environment?

Why is he reversing anything to combat pollution? Do we suddenly not need clean air and water anymore?

Simple. Business goes to Trump and says "If you remove this regulation which is costing us money you can talk about how many jobs you're creating and we'll donate loads to your re-election campaign." And so it goes. Anything that limits short-term commercial gain must be eliminated.
