@SW-User Except that Jolibee, McDonalds and KFC are out to change that in the Metro areas....

@Threepio I believe they're there to mainly serve Westerners and tourists :P

@SW-User Few Westerners will eat regularly at those establishments when they are located in Asia. Mostly you see expats and westerners drinking coffee or soda while the wives and kids eat the food. I never see many tourists in those restaurants either. They usually eat in the hotel's dining rooms.

Jolibee started in the PI and is a Filipino company that is much loved by the Filipinos. They serve a high carb menu (IE Sweet spaghetti and deep fried "chickenjoy with white rice smothered in gravy"). Only recently have they expanded to the US (Vegas and Times square are the most popular locations). Many McDonalds arrived in the 90's and compete with Jolibee. It is easy to see why so many in the motherland have developed diabetes.

@Threepio I figured you'd say that. But I don't think fast food chains will ever change the way domestic Asian people eat. It's good to have a variety, but Asians will always prefer their Asian food.

@SW-User Don't get me wrong... I love Asian food, but I don't see fried chicken and spaghetti as "Filipino Cuisine". But roast pig (Lechon), Siapoa, pancet, lumpia, gambas and all the other traditional Filipino foods.... COUNT ME IN.
