I really love my astronomy professor. I'm taking her class as a gen ed here in college, but I've taken the class before in high school and am a bit of an astronomy nerd. She's been referring to the synodic day exclusively as the solar day, so I decided to call it by the fancier name to see if she would notice.
She noticed.
Last week, class let out ten or fifteen minutes early and we talked about astrobiology, which is her specialty. I wrote a thesis on astrobiology once, so I had a bit of knowledge on the subject. And we talked about it until this other student asked in the most passive-aggressive tone, "Do you wanna wait until next class to continue asking questions?" So there was that.
