Jesus is whatever people want him to be. Even now you're redefining him for your own ends.

@SW-User I suppose youre right, the details of fairy tales can always be changed up for the readers, but if you're going by the Bible, he was a Jew

@KidAzazel I find it amusing that atheists feel the need to continually spout off about religion. If you truly don't believe in it, why do you allow it to live rent free in your tiny mind?
KidAzazel · 26-30
@SW-User this post specifically was about how I think its ridiculous that people think Jesus was white, because in my opinion it's a reflection of a pretty serious problem ingrained in our society, especially when you look at the kinds of people who generally hold those views. I see it as a reflection, however little it may be, of white supremacy and how it permeates a disturbing amount of things in our society

@SW-User People can only discuss things they believe in? 🤨
Sure, the type of atheist who feels the need to constantly mock religious people has a chip on their shoulder, but I don't see this question as "spouting off". It's a valid point and Azazel is being civil about it.

@KidAzazel White Europeans were the reason why Christianity became so widespread. Of course depictions of their god will reflect their own physical characteristics. It's not some "white supremacy" boogyman. You're really just interested in tearing down Western civilization, which is why you've hopped on the hate whitey bandwagon.
Go get mad about how Shiva looks Indian and claim it's Asian supremacy.

@SW-User lol nah, I have no such interest, and I dont hate white people. I simply think it's an interesting subtlety that reflects a larger problem

SW-User
@KidAzazel And why is it a problem for people to worship as they please?
KidAzazel · 26-30
@SW-User I'm quite sure I never said that was a problem. Actually, that wasnt even the focus of the post. I did make a comment that religion is a political tool, and in my opinion it is. Just look at how much politics bleeds into religion and vice versa. Spirituality isnt a problem to me. Worship Jesus, worship Allah, or whoever/whatever the fuck you want. But I have a problem when a guy in a fancy hat and some robes tries to tell everyone what to think and tries to imbue a massive system of spiritual beliefs with his personal agenda. Spirituality and religion are two very different things to me

SW-User
@KidAzazel Religion is the customs and traditions that surround what you call "spirituality". No one is forcing you to practice any religion. There is a distinct separation of church and state in the US and in many other countries around the world. Your "guy in a fancy hat" argument doesn't hold water. I would bet my bottom dollar that you're simply spoiled and looking for something to bitch and whine about, because when people get too comfortable they often create their own strife and hardship out of boredom. Go outside or something.
KidAzazel · 26-30
@SW-User woof someones getting feisty. Nobodys forcing me to practice any religion, but to overlook the dangerous ideologies theyve spread over the course of history is pretty foolish. And maybe theres separation of church and state on paper, but if you look at how legislation is often handled, there may as well not be. This definitely doesnt affect me personally, but it certainly affects other people. Maybe itd do you a little good to practice some empathy 🙂

@KidAzazel You're so wrong and yet so smug about it. I find this greatly amusing.
KidAzazel · 26-30
@SW-User I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree then. Surely you have better things to do than argue with someone who's just so wrong. What was it you said again? "Go outside or something"

SW-User
@KidAzazel It's three in the morning and I'm in Detroit, moron. Like I said, so wrong yet so smug.
