When I go fishing it’s not uncommon for a Northern Pike to try and latch on to my hand when unhooking it. That’s why I started to wear mesh gloves.

@TakingBackMidgard Won’t those sharp teeth penetrate mesh gloves?
@TakingBackMidgard nice one ! yeah dont forget the gill teeth and the fact they then love to flop around tearing you up

@TakingBackMidgard How do pike’s taste? Is it a mild-flavored fish?
@cherokeepatti pike are often caught for size not eating.
imo they are not the best tasting and you need to remove a 2nd set of "Y" bones that use up meat

@NightsWatch oh OK a sport fish then
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@NightsWatch Do you catch walleyes?
@cherokeepatti yes , i like perch and bluegill for eating
TakingBackMidgard · 31-35, M
@NightsWatch true that. I mainly catch and release except when I’m at my lake house where the perch, walleye, crappie, and channel cats are all good eats.

@cherokeepatti I’ve never ate one they’re mainly bone as the meat is under it. Mainly a trophy sport fish.

@NightsWatch some people will pop them on the head to get them to stop. I’ve never had an issue yet. Though I do have a hard time when in my kayak
TakingBackMidgard · 31-35, M
@Mamapolo2016 they’re a Kevlar mesh integrated with steel fiber. The teeth don’t penetrate the material but the bite can be strong and noticeable but not at all painful with them on

@NightsWatch @TakingBackMidgard crappie is my favorite pan fish. I’d love to try walleye if I get up north, have seen on the Travel channel they have restaurants serving it.
