The average American is pretty screwed, to be honest. I read a stat that 40% of babies are born out of wedlock now (a high correlation to lower educational and career outcomes), and most families couldn't survive an unexpected $1000 expense without taking a loan. It sounds a lot like the American Dream has gone off the rails into debt, complacency and upcoming chaos
