Why come to work when you're sick if you have sick time

My co-worker is hacking up a lung since Monday and has been at work everyday. She stated that she has about 100 sick hours (in my company you can carry over from year to year) and she refuses to use them!! I'm new here and if I get sick, I will lose out on my time because I don't have any sick time yet 🤬 Selfish

Her doctor has probably told her that it's not contagious and that there's no reason to take sick time. They do that a lot. It happened to me before, so I had no legal recourse but to keep working and hope that it wasn't in fact contagious.

Because sadly, employees and employers look down on people who take sick leave and call them lazy.
