Yes, but it need not be a "confrontation." I simply say, "The line begins back there", and the person usually apologizes and moves. I start with the assumption that it is an honest mistake, and my tone reflects that.

@DrWatson i agree. Id always be polite at first. As i say...it doesnt often happen but the people that do it are usually far too hard faced to respond to'excuse me....the back of the line is down there'.

@DrWatson they really arent....until someone tries to jump in!! People do in general just stand and wait for as long as it takes. In other European countries, people are not so polite and barge.....and the Brits all come out of the woodwork and start moaning hiw bad mannered everyone else is!! Lol
