Yes and no. I was in the process of being kicked out, but I left before they could actually have the satisfaction of kicking me out.

My boss at the time asked me to pick up a pack of cigarettes for him. He would ask that for time to time when he couldn't leave the pro-shop at the golf course I worked at. The law in California changed from 18 to 21. I was 20. He mentioned that it could be possible for me to actually buy some, since I was legally allowed to purchase them literally a day before--some other states grandfather people in like that, he said. And mind you, my boss at the time was awesome. I did this favor for him because he was like the crazy uncle that I never had.

So the town I live in basically has one decent place to actually buy something like this without being robbed: the gas station.

Of course, no gas station is complete without a rude bat who thinks she runs the place.

I asked for a pack of Newport.

"Can I see your ID?"

"Okay, so this was my quest--"

This mean old lady has the audacity to snatch my license.

"You have to be 21."

"Ah, I figured." I said while putting the money and license back in my wallet. "It's kinda silly though how they didn't grandfather those who were legally allowed to buy this stuff yesterday."

She started popping veins out of her forehead. She shouted with the same kind of shout that Mrs. Fowl from Jimmy Neutron would make if she was a nasty old hag.

"You... have... to be... 21!!"

I tried to remain calm as I started to walk away.

"I understand this. I just think it was kind of silly how the government handled this."

I walked toward the door, and the woman darts over to me and squawked as loud as she could, "You have to be 21!!!"

I faced her. You can't talk to people like that! I pointed at her and shouted back. "I'm not arguing with you! I just said that it was silly is all!"

She was escorting me out at this point. She didn't see where I went when I walked out of the building and would have never thought to look at the brand-new Camaro leaving the parking lot. She started to scout the parking lot to try and find me.
