What makes a person a troll?

Someone called me a "twisted troll" for being abrasive in my opinion about something. I'm not sure if he really knows the meaning of "troll". I feel like people use the word too freely every now and then.

Also the word asshole. They call everyone that, but they have that one blind spot, themselves.
