So my best friend wants to move out of state and is giving me serious vibes that if she does we won't be friends anymore

Basically she wants to go to get out of the rut she's in and learn to be single and to be alone.

I told her that the being alone part didn't sound great, cuz she hasn't been single since middle school and she's terrified of it and I feel like she shouldn't go through it alone.

So she said that she doesn't have friends she "just has Betty and me". Then explained that Betty is a cold hearted bitch and not really worth keeping and said "and you" and paused. And said that we never see each other.

Just the whole conversation made it sound like if she leaves she's gone. Won't try to keep friendships, won't try to make things work out. Like she's gonna make it so she's entirely alone.

This whole conversation fucking stung. Like I support her moving away cuz I think it could be really good for her but I thought we'd still be friends and it doesn't seem like that's really what she wants

Ask her not to leave then. Be up front with her about how you feel.

@SW-User that'd be putting myself before her when it comes to her life... So not an option.

@ForeverGrowingOld Maybe she feels like you don't appreciate her, and she's trying to get that response from you. Have you ever thought of it that way? If you stand to lose a friend, why not say something?
Sounds like she wants to cut ties with you. Let her and don't feel bad, from what you have said here she sounds both insensitive and selfish.

You don't need that kind of negative energy hon!
