Nothing really changed for the poor colonists at the time. They had nothing and were convinced that "we" would be "free" if they would help fight England. The continental congress or Quakers learned a deceptive way they could in fact be independent of England...tax their own people. England by that point was the competition for big business. When America drove out England they turned their guns towards their own and said "now you will pay the same amount of taxes to this new independent (free) country". The only thing that changed for the poor of the American colonies is watching corporations switch hands. The American Revolution Was nothing but tax reform ๐
