It's a choice you have to make. It boils down to sacrifice.

Is the sacrifice to your personal life worth it to be successful in terms of career? It's a choice you will constantly have to make in your life.

@midnightsun I hate that it has to be a choice. Why can't everyone just get along with everyone? ☹️
midnightsun · 26-30, M
@TheIncredibleHulka well.. I don't know

Most of it is too much. Yet that's the agenda. I prefer a society that cares about one another versus getting ahead.

@Peaceful True. But who am I or you to say what makes a person individually?

People define for themselves what their purpose is.

Personal accomplishments and satisfaction is important to the human experience.

Some people get that through their careers.

@TheIncredibleHulka careerist doesn't care about country but themselves only. And a careerist is strictly attached to money and fame. Unless we are talking about armies and folks who are associated with certain scientific fields or those certain government positions which require intelligent minds but has less pay.

@SW-User what if someone made a career out of doing things for people? People like them are there in many fields you didn't mention like teachers, doctors, engineers....doesn't have to be the army/ government officials always who contributes in nation-building.
I don't know why careerist is always used in a negative way.

You have to prioritize. Nothing wrong with putting yourself and career first.

But being successful really means nothing if you don't have people in your life that can enjoy that with you.

Strive to be successful in your career but never forget about those you love or your other important relationships.
yes.. but how much is too much is when you look at you life before bed and ask.. are you deeply satisfied with your choices? did you make your choices for you or for society and what it told you was the thing that was best.

Maybe 🤷‍♂️ I’m pretty career oriented. Leaving family, cutting friends - partially why I’m here so often.
TheIncredibleHulka · 31-35, F
@Rokasu same dude.

When it hurts the relationships of people you love.

An extremity to anything is always bad

There's nothing wrong with being career orientated, just dont forget your own life
