How does one ask family to see if they’d be willing to donate a kidney to another family member?

I mean everyone already knows the persons kidney has failed. His condition is getting progressively worse and not many know that but know he’s on dialysis and looks like he’s getting worse with time.

So how does one ask? If they already know if they wanted to they’d have offered right?

My husbands sister is like “why don’t you ask so and so”

And I’m like “well how do I ask a cousin or uncle to permanently alter their lifestyle for my brother, especially considering most of them only speak to us when they need something from us?”
