Maybe it's seen that way among Americans and British, but not for others. We use it because we might like it, and not to impress them.

@SW-User I understand that, and I don't care when people use it as a regular word. I really meant in specific instances when people are trying to sound smart during an internet debate.

@coffeedimplez I've noticed that when Americans overuse it they use it to mostly impress the British and themselves.
I use it as an intensifier, when not sure what to use instead, or when lazy to pick words.
Anyway, that's as far as I can tell. 🤷♂️ You know best on how things word among your people.
To others that aren't American, British or others that have English as their native language, it is, really, just a regular word.🤷♂️
