As a comic once noted:
“I don’t do impersonations....I do impressions”.
An impersonation is trying to pass yourself off as someone else (it’s an act of deception, and while it can be done for entertainment it can also be criminal in some cases). An impression is a copying of the voice and mannerisms of another without any attempt to fool anyone into thinking you actually are that person.
I’m not very good at impressions....my best one was Jimmy Stewart, but even that wasn’t great.
