does epilating ever get easier?

i've been epilating for a few years now. i do it every 1-2 months. the pain remains the same as in the beginning. i don't see any less hair either. i invested in this torture to gradually destroy hair follicles and thus have a decreasing number of hairs to pull out. so far, i don't see any progress. i've just gotten better at going through with the pain. i feel like laser hair removal is the only sound option at this point.
