Why is the LBGT community so upset about a straight pride parade?

Straight people have a right to celebrate heterosexuality. They're not hurting anyone by having a parade.

I wish the LGBT was more positive and supportive of people who aren't members of it.

@ISpeakTheTruth It's not a good look to be sure. If they were more tolerant, I'd appreciate their cause a lot more.

@Reject I haven't found that to be the case. I'm invited to dinner and other functions by gay friends who know I'm straight. What makes you state they aren't tolerant of straight people?

@SW-User I'm not talking about individuals. I'm talking about the community as a whole and what I've seen from them.
SW-User
@Reject Which is what? What have you seen from them that lacks tolerance towards respectful straight people?
Reject · 26-30, M
@SW-User "Respectful" should not be a prerequisite for tolerance.
SW-User
@Reject Really? If someone shows disrespect towards a group of people, that group is supposed to keep their mouths shut and take it?

I notice you're creating a deflection from my original question. What have you seen that makes you state what you have here?
@Reject
I believe you're very much invited to take part in the pride parades. I know we're supported by heterosexuals here that will join the parades.

@SW-User Kevin Hart for a specific example off the top of my head, this post itself being them upset over straight parades, and the many other things I'm sure there are if you only look. Those are examples I can tell you which aren't anecdotal.

@SapphicHeart Parades don't work on invitation and I wouldn't care to be a part of it anyways.
@Reject
Never mind, I just noticed your reply to @SW-User' question for you. Have a lovely remainder of your day.

@SapphicHeart Thanks, you too. 🙂

@Reject Kevin Hart made derogatory comments about gays from what I recall.

I created a response on this question as to why they are upset over straight parades. Others have too. Maybe you should read them so I don't have to repeat myself. It isn't about intolerance toward straights.

I can't find any examples. You obviously know about specific incidents from the comment you made. Why won't you share them here?

@SW-User Kevin Hart is a comedian and makes jokes. Not only that, but the culture back then when he made those jokes was a bit different and things like that were more acceptable at the time. He's since worked on changing and knows that these things weren't right. Still, that didn't stop him from being judged and forced to step down from hosting anyways. 😕

I believe you're the type of person who would demand respect and support from people before tolerating them so any further points I could make with you wont be understood or accepted. We simply see these things differently which is fine, but I'm not interested in explaining personal beliefs you just don't agree with.

@Reject you're right man. They sometimes harass people and destroy private property of those who don't agree with them.
Reject · 26-30, M
@xRedx A lot of them hate people who either aren't a member of their community or don't support it. You HAVE to be queer in some way yourself, or actively support their cause and if you don't, then you're nothing but a problem in their eyes and you're not allowed to express your opinion without offending them. That's the issue. If they didn't mind the fact that they aren't entitled to the world's respect and understanding, then there wouldn't be all this conflict.
xRedx · M
@Reject Exactly. You're exactly right. I've experienced this and so have some of my family members, coworkers and friends. They feel like you NEED to respect them. If you don't, they'll attack in groups like we're seeing here. Better than in real life.
Reject · 26-30, M
@xRedx Last I checked we're all different and we're allowed to be different. You see I thought that was the message they were trying to send until they showed me time and time again that they're no better than the people who discriminated against them for so long because they act exactly like they do. That hypocrisy is not a good look. If the LGBT truly believed that people should be accepted for the way they are, then they wouldn't need anyone to respect or support them before making the choice to be tolerant of others.
xRedx · M
@Reject if I could give you the best answer, I would. That's what people fail to comprehend and make it into a war. You're either with them, or against them. There's no middle ground which I find to be uncivil.
Reject · 26-30, M
@xRedx Thank you, yes! Someone who really understands the actual problem here. The heart of the issue. It's their attitude about these things. Who cares if there's a straight pride parade? Who cares if it's origin is rooted in hatred for gays? Use that as your chance to show how these things won't affect you and you'll be okay with them anyways because you're going to be better than that. Not add to the negativity with your own. Be tolerant. I wish more people understood this.

@xRedx @Reject You two should get married. You make a lovely couple with your generalizations, hate, and nothing stated that is factually based, and merely personal opinion.

@Reject and @xRedx should be watching this one...

Did he really say that....

@SW-User
Says everything, but hey! It's the gay people that aren't "respectful". Tsk tsk.

Oh! And don't forget... "Not add to the negativity with your own. Be tolerant. I wish more people understood this."
