Why do people walk around with no shoes on and then complain when they step on something sharp?

Why don't they realise that they wouldn't feel it if they wore shoes?

I'm barefooted a lot.My feet are very tough. One time I accidentally walked through broken glass.I just heard the crunch looked down as my friend told me what I had done, brushed off the soles of my bare feet with my hands, not even any tiny mark on my soles, and walked on.

@Callmyname It's super rare anyone else can.Martial arts and being barefooted so much as well as my genetics has blessed me with hard thick skin on the soles of my feet.
