Can u get sued for lying about someone over the internet ?

I wonder how many of you would get sued if we found out who was saying what on here. 🤭
Anyway. What do you think. Can you get sued for lying about someone on the internet.
Like just little petty lies. About character. 🤔

Slander is illegal regardless of how it's done but I don't think you can be sued for lying about someone when the situation isn't intended to cause damage to their life in some way (like getting them fired from work or something). But I'm not really an expert on the law.

I wouldn't care if someone was lying about me! I'd find it humorous that they have nothing better to do in their own lives and that they're more interested I need mine lol

Yes, you can get sued....whether they can sue successfully is another matter entirely.

no. it would be next to impossible. even death threats are difficult to prosecute.
