Why do so many people refuse to read online? (See Details)

I recently made a post on a different site. To summarize, I was expressing disappointment and confusion over people’s unwillingness to read profile bios. On this site, I State my intentions in my bio. I’m only there for friends, nothing more. And yet, no one will read it any many message me seeking more than friendship. When i tell such people that i clearly state my intentions in my bio, they often say that they didn’t read it because they just didn’t want to or don’t care. So that was the basis of my post.
The comments, so far, are all complaining about how long my post is - that it’s too much to read and no one has the time for it (the length of the post was a little shorter the length of this post, as it is so far). Ultimately, they’ve proved my point - people are too lazy and full of themselves to take 30 seconds to read something someone has to say - or even skim it. However, it’s still incredibly annoying. I just don’t understand the mindset as-is, and they fact that people insist on being so unnecessarily rude in response is disheartening, to say in the least.

You are asking people to invest time in you why?
RubySoo · 56-60, F
@St0ut probably because it feels good to invest and be invested in. Its rare tho it clicks for both people.

No one is obligated to read what I post. If I want an individual to receive a message on something, I will send it to them directly.
For my initial post on this other site, I was referring to profile bios. Bios exist to provide information about a person, so you can judge whether you wish to interact with them or not. If you’re looking for friendship, you should read a person’s profile bio to see if they’re looking for the same. If not, you may waste both of your time. They exist to help in communication, not act as an obstacle.
In this post, I’m just sharing my experience and allowing others to offer insight - which is the foundation of this site (much like Experience Project).
To summarize, or if you don’t want to read much, I’m not necessarily asking anyone to invest time in me. No one is obligated to read what I post, or comment on my posts. I’m just offering my experience and allowing others to offer insight and commentary. That’s all.

@RubySoo yes but initially I am not going to spend a lot of time reading about someone who I am not engaging with

@St0ut i do. Thats how i get to know what people are about....

Okay, and that’s fine. Personally, I don’t think the reading I’ve offered is too much, on this post or the one referenced. However, I may be more accustomed to reading and writing than the average person. But if you don’t care to read it, I can’t make you. No one is obligated to read my posts or give commentary if they don’t want to.
