If you hit someones dog on the road...would you stop?

Someone hit my dog today and didnt stop. Thank goodness hes gonna make it.

Dont even know tbh. Hope to never be in that situation. What good would stopping do? It wont un-hit the dog...and im pretty sure putting it in reverse would just make things worse.
