I was driving across the open prairie when I heard the first report of the bombing. The woman reporter was clearly in shock. She was the first one on the scene and was trying to make sense of it all. She gave her name and I looked at Dear Wife sitting beside me. I asked could that be the girl I went to school with? The one whose parents lived a mile up the road from the farm I grew up on? The one whose parents invited us to lunch after church on Sundays? I made a quick phone call and sure enough. The first reporter on the scene was a girl from rural Alberta.
