why is there no fire department in paris????? I did not see any fire hoses. no fire trucks on the site. no fire truck with that big long boom with huge nozzle that sprays water down on a building from above. what is going on in paris? why does paris not have a fire department????? 😺

@trackboy This does not entirely answer your question, but it is probably relevant to note that Notre Dame is on a small island. And from what I remember from my visit, it could very well be that those narrow streets, dating back to medieval times, might not be wide enough for fire trucks. (I am not sure about that though)

@DrWatson they would had been widened and rebuilt long ago for delivery trucks and other trucks to get there. fire trucks have to go down teh same lanes other cars and suvs and pick up trucks go down so are no wider then our suvs and pick up trucks. did not see any fire trucks in the coverage. here we have the fire trucks with the long boom that goes up many stores to spray a fire from above. why are they not bringing in helicopters to do water drops like we do for forest fires?? dont even see any fire men on the ground with hoses either. 😺

@trackboy They are there. I posted a photo with a fire hose shooting, and I read on CNN's website that the fire department is there battling the flames.

@DrWatson was no fire department there on the coverage on the noon news as the spire was burning and the fire was getting to the roof. news segment ends at 1 pm so no coverage since. 😺
