@Troy123 Pascal's Wager -- do you want to take a chance that you are not a transcendent being and how you live will not have consequences beyond your earthly demise? Pretty big gamble.

@Troy123 I don't know. As is obvious, humans are much different than other animals. One of those differences, according to those who have thought much about this stuff, is that only humans have a soul i.e. are transcendent beings. To use Christian nomenclature --"humans are made in the image of God".

@beckychandler I believe that animals have souls and transcend death. Which animals? I don't know. But I do believe that animals which are capable of love do. And to a certain extent, I believe that animals that are capable if dreaming may transcend death.
