You have to excite it via microwaves though? That's probably not terribly energy efficient. I think we'll be switching to more LEDs until something more efficient comes along.

@Pianist1234 In general we've already begun a global shift from incandescents to LEDs. If a sulfur lamp requires a microwave source it's not going to become a widespread alternative.

@Pianist1234 Rods? If you mean the long skinny tubes, those are probably fluorescents and are rarely found in homes. Businesses use them though.
