@revenant by non participation, and public support. iv never met someone that told me they though cursive should replace print, but i have heard overwhelming support for just the opposite. most people were just forced to learn it in schools for no purpose other than passing grade school, and then its never used again except in signatures. i have heard that many schools have moved to remove it from the curriculum, and i wholeheartedly support that idea, and im sure others will as well.

i promise you you can find a text document of anything worth reading in our own country's archives. if not, there are people who make a whole career that is to decipher old texts. even that aside, are you under the impression that the way these documents were written then are the same as modern cursive? also incorrect. language is meant to evolve, its up to us as the people that speak and write the language to ensure it doesn't evolve into a nonsensical direction.
