Live PD is coming to Oklahoma City on Thursday

Good choice, there’s plenty of variety in crimes here....something’s always poppin’ in OKC...

I lived there for a time. That place is asleep by 9pm.

@Steve42 when did you live there?
Steve42 · 56-60, M
@cherokeepatti I lived there the year McVeigh blew up the federal building. Moved away two months before he did blow it up. Worked across the street. Lived at Ft. Sill 89 to 90. Mears is still my favorite steak place.

More crime now, gangs and stuff. Seems like when I turn on the morning news each morning they have overnight police chase, home invasion, murders, robberies, etc. A lot more than they used to have back then.

@Steve42 Used to be one bad area in the OKC metro, then two, then three, and now no place is safe enough for me to drive down the street with windows down and doors unlocked. They have home invasions in the safest areas. The ones who can afford buy or build homes in gated communities to help keep some of the riff-raff out.

@cherokeepatti Wow, that is some difference from when I was there. Moving there from the east coast I thought it was a sleeply little city.

@Steve42 It was for the most part when I was growing up. I said then there was no way I’d even think of going to someplace like NYC because of the crime rate but now the crime rate in OKC is higher than NYC...robberies of previously untargeted businesses like dollar stores, Hallmark card shops, athletic shoe places for example.

@Steve42 yes crack, meth and heroin. Got worse after the economy went down and so many unemployed.

@cherokeepatti Bummer...

@Steve42 A retired OKC cop lives in this city and sometimes I see him & talk to him. He told me they needed to put about 3 times more cops on at night than what they have and less for the daytime. They use more in the daytime because they want people to see them out and about. I told him I had a minor accident about 17 years ago in a van that I had borrowed...called the OKC police, it was on a Sunday afternoon and they took over 2 hours to show up.

@cherokeepatti Yeah, I was so surprised they caught McVeigh by 'chance' on his way home.

@Steve42 His lawyer told in the beginning that he was micro-chipped with a tracking device when he was in the Green Berets and that’s how they knew where to find him. And that he would reveal a lot more things about the case....but the lawyer didn’t reveal much...think he backed down or was threatened not to tell all.
Steve42 · 56-60, M
@cherokeepatti I never got chipped. Was in the 11th SFG. My dad never got chipped, was in 5th SFG.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Steve42 Well that’s what the lawyer said. Were you in Special Forces
Steve42 · 56-60, M
@cherokeepatti Yes. A long time ago.
