which takes precedence....... the laws of your government, or the laws of your religion/ethical beliefs ??

I can give precedence to anything I wish in my life.

What I can't do is expect society to accommodate what I give precedence to.

That goes for religion or anything else I might give value to.

The end result is that if I give precedence to something society does not value and offer accommodations for-- then I have to make hard choices and make sacrifices to give those things precedence.

I heard a case of a Hindu guy who was suing because he got meat in a Taco Bell meal when he didn't order it. He had to go to the Ganges or some such for ablutions. It not eating meat is that important, you're going to gambol on Taco Bell?

Or the orthodox Jewish guys who refuses to sit next to a woman on a plane or bus. Demand the woman be moved. Seriously? If it's that important, drive. Fly first class. Buy the seats next to you.

And so on.
