Is 'ted talks' now a pile of bullshit?

all I see is social issues, feminism and a lot of other bullshit. 90% of speakers in the present day don't even have the required qualifications to be there.

What a mess.

@MrBlueGuy i have watched it.

You know, the very first youtube comment describes the whole talk.

"half of people get the joke and other half are the joke. "

I noticed this a while back. Kind of stopped listening to them when they started having fat activists telling us how they can be healthy at any size and BMI doesn't matter. 🙄

I don't care if you're a body builder, if your BMI is >40 you're unhealthy. The heart isn't made to pump blood to that much tissue. If anything being super muscular at that BMI is worse because muscle is more vascular.
@Doomflower Yeah I'm not not doing bad I was 246 pounds at the beginning of the year and I'm down to 220 as of today. Just gotta keep pressing forward grr! 💪

@MrBlueGuy wow 20 lbs in 3 months is amazing!!
@Doomflower I mean technically 26 but who's counting :P Yeah it honestly wasn't that hard either I just amped up the exercise and cut down the calories.. I haven't even altered my diet that drastically I just try not to overdo it. And intermittently fast for 5-6 days a week.

Most of it is now, yeah; either in the form of SJWs or thinly veiled self-help types. I still occasionally see something worthwhile though.

@Sicarium there's a great gem among those videos.

David goggins. Heard of him?
Sicarium · 46-50, M
@midnightsun Name sounds familiar. Triathlete, retired military?
midnightsun · 26-30, M
@Sicarium YES!

There's a book about him too. It inspired me a lot.

Fuck it, his (first) talk on impact theory is so beautiful man.

I don’t watch it very much. The one talk that intrigued me was the professor who spoke about mushrooms and fungi
midnightsun · 26-30, M
@cherokeepatti There was a time when the talks were so awesome that it blew my mind.

I see no interesting science and technology talks at all
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@midnightsun I’m not going to waste my time on the bullshit subjects, I like the science and technology ones, especially when young people are inventing or talking about things.
midnightsun · 26-30, M
@cherokeepatti me too. I wanna stay updated on technolgy and science
firefall · 61-69, M
